Birth Control Pills :

    The most effective type is the combination pill which contains both estrogen and progestin- A synthetic form of progesterone. These 2 hormones interfere with the normal menstrual cycle to prevent ovulation. Taken daily pills they  in two types combined estrogen and progestin and progestin only pills .

Contraceptive Patch :

     The Patch is 5 cm square and is applied to the skin just like plaster. It prevents pregnancy by releasing rhe hormones oestrogen and progestogen through the skin.

Birth Control Ring :

     Birth control ring is a convenient way to prevent pregnancy .You just put a small ring in your vagina once a month.The ring has the same hormones as most birth control pills.

Hormonal Injections (Depo-Provera):

 An injection of progestin given every three months to stop ovulation.

Hormonal IUD:

 A small T-shaped device inserted into the uterus that releases progestin, effective for 3 to 7 years depending on the type.

Barrier Methods :

  Diaphragm and Cervical Cap:

 A dome-shaped device inserted into the vagina to cover the cervix and prevent sperm from entering the uterus.

  Sponge: A soft, foam sponge inserted into the vagina, coated with spermicide to kill sperm.

. Intrauterine Devices (IUDs)

IUDs are small devices inserted into the uterus to prevent pregnancy. There are two types:

Copper IUD (Non-hormonal): Uses copper to create a toxic environment for sperm, preventing fertilization, effective for up to 10 years.

Hormonal IUD: Releases progestin to thicken cervical mucus and inhibit sperm movement, effective for 3 to 7 years.

. Natural Methods

These methods rely on understanding the woman’s menstrual cycle and avoiding sex on days when she is most fertile.

Fertility Awareness Methods: Tracking ovulation through body temperature, cervical mucus, or cycle calendar to avoid sex on fertile days.

Withdrawal (Pulling Out): The male partner withdraws the penis from the vagina before ejaculation, though it's less reliable due to pre-ejaculation fluid.
