1.       What are the 4 phases of the menstrual cycle?

2.       What is a  normal menstrual cycle ?

3.       Is the menstrual cycle exactly 28 days ?

4.       How to calculate safe days ?

1.       Menstrual Phase (day 1-5) : This is when menstruation period occurs. The uterine lining which has thickened in preparation for a potential pregnancy is shed through the vagina if there is no fertilized egg. This result is bleeding that can last from 3 to 7 days.

2.       Follicular Phase (Day 1-14) : Overlaps with the menstrual phase and continues afterward. During this time the pituitary gland in the brain releases follicle stimulating hormone . Which stimulates the growth of ovarian follicles.

3.       Ovulation (Around Day 14): Mid-cycle, a surge in Luteinizing Hormone (LH) triggers ovulation, where a mature egg is released from the ovary into the fallopian tube. This is the period when a woman is most fertile.

4.       Luteal Phase (Days 15-28): After ovulation, the empty follicle transforms into the corpus luteum which secretes progesterone. This hormone further prepares the uterine lining for a potential pregnancy. If the egg is not fertilized, the corpus luteum breaks down, leading to a drop in hormone levels, and the uterine lining is eventually shed, starting the next menstrual cycle.
